Oversea research training report meeting of the third cohort of Tsinghua M.D. Program held in School of Medicine

The 3rd Tsinghua M.D. Program’s students have completed their two-year oversea research training and returned to China, and a forum about their past two years was held by Tsinghua University School of Medicine (THSOM) on 24th Sep, 2016.

Shi Yigong, Tsinghua vice president, Liu Jinghui, Secretary-General from China Scholarship Council (CSC), Wu Li, vice dean of THSOM and 30 students from the program attended the meeting.

The VP Yigong Shi said at the meeting that, there is still great room for improvement in today’s medical system. He encouraged the students to shoulder their responsibility to tackle those challenges, and to learn to be a physician scientist and pharmaceutical scientist.  They should cultivate and lead the future medicine in China with entrepreneur mind and great efforts.

30 students from the MD program, who have completed their two years training from University of Melbourne, the University of Pittsburgh and University of California, San Francisco, talked about their academic life and living experiences in the past two years.

Every year, thirty top students from THSOM are selected for the MD program. Financial supports from CSC are provided to ensure their completions of the program.

The Scene of the Meeting.

Since its inception in 2011, THSOM has been aspiring to generate world-class physician-scientists from a selected group of high-caliber students trained by leading international medical and scientific experts.

Tsinghua University started the MD program in 2012, a key step towards this objective is the establishment of the Tsinghua MD Program, an eight-year program combining medical training with scientific research both in China and abroad.
