Tsinghua Teachers and Students attended International Conference on “Environment and Health”

Two professors and ten graduates from the Department of Building Science, School of Architecture, Tsinghua University took part in the International Conference of “Environment and Health – Bridging South, North, East and West” in Basel, Switzerland during Aug. 19th to 23rd. This conference is jointly held by International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE), International Society of Exposure Science (ISES), and International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ). More than 1800 researchers from all over the world attended the conference.
Dr. Charles Weschler, a visiting professor of School of Architecture, Tsinghua, gave a keynote speech titled “Indoor environments: shaped by interplay of human bodies with chemicals of outdoor and indoor origin” at the conference. Professor Yinping Zhang from School of Architecture, Tsinghua, gave a speech titled “IAQ problems in urban China: challenges and opportunities”. Professor Jan Sundell gave two speeches titled “Global picture on children’s asthma and allergic diseases and their home environment phase 1 study” and “A 10 city cross-sectional questionnaire survey in China: a preliminary understanding of the riddles behind the rapid increased prevalence of children’s asthma”.
Tsinghua Ph.D student Wenjuan Wei et al’s poster, “Formaldehyde emissions from a LIFE reference: emission parameters and factorial studies”, won the Best Student Poster Award.
