Tsinghua Is Selected into First Group of Study in China Demonstration Bases by MOE

The Ministry of Education recently starts the construction work for its first group of study in China demonstration bases, 22 universities under the direct lead of Ministries and Commissions, including Tsinghua University, and 16 local universities and colleges are on the list.

The construction work is an important part for the implementation of the "national medium and long-term educational reform and development plan (2010-2020)" as well as the “study in China program". The first group of selected universities and colleges owns leading functions in such aspects including international students’ scale, structure, development, and its management and service system. These universities and colleges also have the abilities to undertake or participate in important programs and events of the nation’s study in China projects.

In recent years, Tsinghua University has brought its international student education into the university’s internationalized talent training system, optimized the structure of international students, and continued to make progress in its international student education.

At present, there are over 3,500 international students coming from 108 countries doing their long-term studies (one or more than one semester’s study) at Tsinghua University. The scales of degree and non-degree international students both rank first among Chinese universities, and over 30% international graduate students coming from famed universities around the world.
