Edward: Life is Like Tasting Fine Wine

Edward Ragg, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (DFLL), Tsinghua University, graduated from both Oxford and Cambridge and obtained a PhD in American Literature from the University of Cambridge in 2004. Introduced by some Tsinghua alumni at Cambridge, he began teaching College English and English Literature for Undergraduates at Tsinghua since 2007. Despite his busy schedule, he has never stopped his study on American Literature, publishing many papers and literary works in recent years. Although living in China today, he has excellent resources in studying American literature with his own space, plentiful research hours, bountiful resources to network, and many opportunities to attend international conferences and activities. He truly enjoys his current profession, which allows him to write papers, publish literature, write English poetry, indulge in beautiful literary works, and much more.

If you think that beautiful writings enchant Edward, then his other profession really "fascinates" him. He is also a master in wine tasting and a wine culture promoter. While he was studying at Cambridge, he had participated in blind wine tastings held by Oxford and Cambridge, beginning his professional wine tasting career. Inevitably, he brought his expertise to the classrooms of Tsinghua, opening an annual elective course about this since 2010, attracting many students. Under his influence, the Wine Society of Tsinghua was formed, in which Edward serves as one of the advisers, who not only provides students with wine glasses, but also wine culture and knowledge. Living in Tsinghua University here in China is like a glass of fine wine for him, sometimes rich, sometimes clear, sometimes dazzling, sometimes fragrant…
