Irish Minister for Education and Skills Visits Tsinghua University and the Royal Irish Academy of Music Gives Performance in the Tsinghua Meng Minwei Concert Hall

Mr. Ruairí Quinn, the Irish Minister for Education and Skills visited Tsinghua University on March 14th. Mr. Declan Kelleher, Ambassador of Ireland to the People’s Republic of China, accompanied Mr. Quinn on his visit. Tsinghua University Vice Chair, Deng Wei, held a meeting with Mr. Quinn and Mr. Kelleher that evening, prior to a concert given by the Royal Irish Academy of Music in the Tsinghua Meng Minwei Concert Hall.

During their meeting, Mr. Deng briefly introduced Tsinghua’s history, education, and efforts related to international cooperation. The hope was expressed that more collaboration could be encouraged between Ireland and Tsinghua University in the coming years, especially in relation to cultural and student exchanges.

The concert by the Royal Irish Academy of Music was part of a series of performances given by renowned universities at Tsinghua.
