Tsinghua Vice President Meets with Turing Award Winner Robert Tarjan
Tsinghua University Vice President Si Yuan met with Prof. Robert Tarjan, A.M. Turing Award Winner at Tsinghua Xuetang Building on April 13. IIIS Dean Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao and Deputy Dean Prof. Amy Yuexuan Wang also joined the meeting.

Vice President Yuan extended a warm welcome to Prof. Tarjan. He said that Prof. Tarjan’s invited talk and interaction with students at Tsinghua University has brought them confidence and more exposure into cutting-edge research problems.
Prof. Tarjan said that he has been impressed by Tsinghua students. He showed great interest in the students’ selection and cultivation of the “Tsinghua Xuetang Talents Program”. Vice President Yuan introduced the program in six disciplinary areas, Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Life Science and Mechanics and its leading role in Tsinghua’s undergraduate education programs.

Prof. Yao introduced the Tsinghua Xuetang Special Pilot CS Class (Yao Class). He said the program has witnessed great achievement and 95% of the students pursue further studies upon graduation.
Prof. Yao also shared his ideas with President Yuan and Prof. Tarjan on nurturing top talents and future cooperation.
