U.S. Ambassador to China Visits Tsinghua

Mr. Jon Huntsman, the U.S. ambassador to China, visited Tsinghua and delivered a speech in the Tsinghua Global Vision Lectures Series on March 18.

Tsinghua Vice President Yuan Si had a discussion with Mr. Huntsman prior to the address and gave him an outline of Tsinghua's recent development. They also exchanged ideas on promoting further academic collaboration.

In his speech, Mr. Huntsman emphasized the importance of U.S.-China cooperation to address the challenges facing the world, such as economic recovery and climate change.

President Barack Obama nominated Jon Huntsman in May 2009 to serve as United States Ambassador to China, and his nomination was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate.
