The visiting U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Steven Chu delivered a speech at Tsinghua on July 15th in the Tsinghua Forum series on“Meeting the Energy and Climate Challenge.”

Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin had a talk with Dr. Chu that day and briefly introduced Tsinghua’s recent developments in research and education to him.

Tsinghua University Council Honorary Chairman Wang Dazhong served as host for  the speech. Nobel Prize Winner C.N.Yang, Mr. Wu Guihui from the Energy Bureau of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Tsinghua University President Assistant Song Yonghua also attended the speech.

Dr. Steven Chu, distinguished scientist and co-winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics (1997), was appointed by President Obama as the 12th Secretary of Energy and sworn into office on January 21, 2009.
